Welcome to the EarthNC Online Nautical Chart Viewer!
Here are some hints to get you started:
View Chart Overlays by selecting available charts under the ‘Charts’ tab. To load a different chart, just select a different chart from the drop down. Control extra layers with the ‘Layers’ tab. Buoys, lights, and markers are available for all US waters. We’ll be adding more layers soon:
There is a range of premium content that you can choose to view by simply clicking on “Places” and selecting which items you would like displayed.
New weather feeds include NOAA Radar as well as multiple Tide, Winds and Surface temp information. Simply select one or multiple weather sources.
Make your own routes with the EarthNC Route Maker found under ‘Routing’. You can use beginning or end waypoints (lat / long) or with the Route Maker open, click on the line icon to start routing and then just click your route out on the map. Double-click to end your route and then save it to Google Earth, GPX file for GPS transfer, or PDF for printing/e-mailing.
You can not only search the map for marinas, hotels, restaurants, but you can search for navigational items such as weather buoys, channel markers, charted waterbody names, tide stations, wrecks, etc. To search chart elements directly either key in “all:” + your query (such as all: Destin Pass) and hit return in the search window:
Or select “Click on EarthNC Chart Search” to get the local chart results.
Some other search shortcuts include:
- tides: (returns the 10 closest tide stations)
- wrecks: (10 closest charted wrecks)
- wxbuoy: (10 closest NOAA weather buoys)
- metar: (10 closest airport weather stations)
- forecast: (10 closest marine forecasts)
- place: (10 closest named locations such as inlets, passes, points, channels, etc.)
To get a quick Lat/Lon from anywhere on the map, just Right-Click over the spot. You can drag the resulting marker around and its position will update automatically.
