Right now there are only about 10 charts that I am interested in (Detroit River, Lake St Clair and Lake Huron). But the Chart List for EarthNC contains all the Charts and is time consuming to use. I have figured out the cross ref for a couple charts, ex; Lake St Clair = US4MI31M, UR2722IW70.kml contains QM6721YW88.kmz + LK2819YC15.kmz.
There are a couple issues with this, 1) It is tedious to do this searching and 2) the Points of interest ref points to an Online ref http://earthnc…LK2819YC15.kmz.
What would be helpful is;
1) An easy to use cross ref from the USXMXXXM names to the KML to the KMZs. Then I could purge unnecessary files and selectively load specific charts into GE.
2) If the KML points to the Chart KMZ locally (pc), why does the Points of Ref point to an online KMZ when it actually exists locally. If it doesn’t find it online, will it automatically test and load if available locally?
Thanks.

Here is one easy way to create a custom ’shortcut’ for the charts you use most:

1. Create an empty folder in your ‘My Places’ in the ‘Places’ menu using the Add->Folder command
2. Open each chart you’d like in your custom shortcut. Once the chart loads, left click and drag the Chart folder in the Places menu into your new folder created in step #1
3. Repeat for each chart you’d like.

The charts in the new folder will now load automatically with Google Earth. You can toggle the visibility of all the charts in the shortcut with the visibility checkbox next to the new folder or selectively turn individual charts on and off by expanding the folder (click on the + sign) and checking/unchecking each individual chart.

The POI link location depends on whether you’ve loaded the ‘Offline’ or ‘Online’ version shortcut.

In the upcoming EarthNC Plus version 2, there will also be a new option for ’seamless’ loading of charts which will be automatic based on zoom and location and eliminate the need to individually open each chart.
