Navigational Elements
EarthNC charts contain all the navigational elements recreational and commercial boaters have come to expect including buoys and marks, depth soundings, and user configurable points of interest – all within the visually intuitive Google Earth environment. The charts are displayed using a special marine icon set and retain the detail of the official charts. Chart data is extracted directly from the official published NOAA and Army Corps charts.
Left image shows zoomed out view with lights, obstructions, and depth contours visible. When zoomed in, depth soundings and markers become visible. Icon labels are color coded to indicate light colors and water depth.
Vector Data / Intelligent Zoom
EarthNC vector data means that each element in an EarthNC chart maintains a unique identity. Elements are categorized into different zoom levels for automatic decluttering. You can hover the mouse over certain features such as special purpose beacons to read the feature name. Click on any icon or other feature and you will get an pop-up balloon with additional information for that map feature.

Users can selectively enable or disable visibility for chart layers. In this case, the depth layers and obstructions have been hidden in the right image to emphasize channel navigation markers.
Bird’s Eye View / Navigation
Google Earth allows for birds-eye views so boaters can get a better perspective on their path and upcoming navigation markers.
