Captain Bill Foster and crew are in the process of wrapping up the first day of their Michigan to Marco Island, Florida trip. While we had various technical issues through the day with 3G cell internet connections, photo uploads, and position updates, we captured a significant portion of his trip through downtown Chicago and hope to improve our ‘uptime’ performance in the coming days as we refine our connection techniques.
While we await Capt Bill’s report for the day, you can browse the slideshow below which includes a couple of screen shots from Google Earth during the live cruising and a large number of webcam still through about 3pm this afternoon.

Well, while it all didn’t work all the time, at least the video and track was up and running for the best part. Downtown Chicago! What a cool city to see from the water! We had to take the radar arch down to clear the lowest bridge by 6 – 8 inches. But it was well worth it. Hope those of you who may have seen it enjoyed the view as much as we did.
Stopped just ouside Joliet for the night.
I’d like to thank Capt. Pascal Gademer for having the idea first and EarthNC for hosting this.
More to come tomorrow.
