The first application of its kind, Whale Alert is dedicated to reducing Right Whale strikes by providing shipping crews the most timely information about whales in their vicinity.
Whale zone geo-fencing
Whale Alert includes the most complete set of geo-fenced Seasonal Management Area (SMA's), Dynamic Management Areas (DMA's) and Recommended Routes overlaid on navigational charts from NOAA.
Alarms and detailed guidance
As ships cross approach or cross individual SMAs and DMAs, the Whale Alert App displays audio and visual warnings and the latest guidelines for environmentally safe navigation.
Real-time AIS support
Whale Alert is the first mobile application to take advantage of the transmission of environmental data over the AIS protocol. The system takes DMA and real-time right whale observations and displays that data graphically, directly within the app.

Get the free Whale Alert app here! Note, the app is designed to commercial ships (over 65 ft or 300 tons) with AIS receivers, but even casual boaters can use the app to avoid critical right whale habitats.
