Navigational Elements
EarthNC charts contain all the navigational elements recreational and commercial boaters have come to expect including buoys, beacons, lights, depth soundings, depth contours, shoreline structures, wrecks, obstructions, and more - all within the visually intuitive Google Earth environment. The charts are displayed using a special marine icon set and retain all the detail of the official charts.
Vector Data / Intelligent Zoom
EarthNC implements chart data directly into the Google Earth format, which means that each navigational element in an EarthNC chart maintains a unique identity. Elements are categorized into different zoom levels for automatic decluttering. You can hover the mouse over certain features such as special purpose beacons to read the feature’s name. Click on any element and you will get an info balloon with additional information on that map feature.
Bird’s Eye View / Navigation
EarthNC Charts for Google Earth allow for birds-eye views so boaters can get a better perspective on their path and upcoming navigation markers.
Points of Interest
EarthNC contains a basic layer of marina and small craft facility information as provided in the official NOAA charts. EarthNC users can share information about nautical points of interest for their local area including submitting photos and video as well as simple text descriptions using links contained in each chart element.
